These bionic leaves can produce a liquid fuel

The great thing is shown by researchers from Harvard University, which has succeeded in creating an artificial leaf with its advanced capabilities. In fact, they claim that the bionic leaf 2.0 which was developed by them has the ability to more efficiently when compared to the process of photosynthesis that occurs on a regular leaf.

As reported by Gizmag on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, the bionic leaf 2.0 project is a continuation of the same project in 2013. This bionic leaves not only have the ability more efficient than photosynthesis, but also can produce a fluid that can be used to be fuel. It became the first achievement in the world's technology development.

The bionic leaf 2.0 project is led by Daniel Nocera along with Pamela Silver is a professor of biochemistry and systems biology at Harvard Medical School. The first generation bionic leaf developed in 2013 can absorb sunlight which is then used to decompose water and produce hydrogen gas and oxygen. Thanks to the addition of special bacteria, the bionic leaf 2.0 is now able to convert hydrogen into liquid fuel.
In this study, Nocera uses a catalyst, ie mixture of cobalt phosphorus. This catalyst can convert sunlight into biomass with an efficiency rate of 10%. The efficiency rate 10 times higher than what happens in nature. This technology will be developed further so that it can have more higher efficiency rates. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GIZMAG]

This is evident from the appearance of the vehicle concept, named the 'Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 or Rolls-Royce 103EX,' its modern luxury wrapped with wheel cover. Where fender semi-enclosed almost all of the wheel arches, so if see it from the front, the car is like having the legs. The rest of the Rolls-Royce concept is equally outlandish, albeit not as crazy as the exterior.

As quoted from Carbuzz on Friday, June 17, 2016, under its modern bonet, the Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 equipped with a V12 engine with two electric motors. Overall the power that can be spewed by those engine combinations reached up to 671 hp.
Not only large engine power is a mainstay of this luxury car, as an autonomous technology can also be found on these vehicles. Instead, a Cortana-esque "virtual chauffeur" called "Eleanor," named after Eleanor Thornton, who is claimed to have inspired the design of Rolls-Royce's iconic Spirit of Ecstasy figurehead.
While for its interior sector claimed is made without machine. The interior is all handcrafted out of high-end materials, and there's even an analogue clock in the dashboard. What do you think? *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARBUZZ]

This electrical sports motorcycle only need 30 minutes to recharge

One of the famous Italian industrial design studios named Camal has recently created an electrical sports motorcycle concept. The company claimed that the motorcycle called BOLD, only takes 30 minutes to recharge up to 80 percent of the battery's capacity.

Camal made a collaboration with its compatriots which is an electric motorcycle manufacturer named Tacita to make this BOLD into reality.

This bike itself is built using the chassis of a BMW motorcycle, but they not say which model exactly. It completed with Brembo brake device, upside-down fork and fierce bodywork design makes the BOLD character becoming more sporty.

Its electric motors grafted with the 5-speed gear-box made by Tacita. Although this technology tend to be 'traditional', but they intend to avoid overheating and made the power consumption more efficient.

By using a battery powered 10.6 Kwh, the BOLD capable of producing the power equivalent of 100 hp with a torque of 115 ft-lb. Not surprisingly, the BOLD is often also referred to as the supersport because of its ability to achieve an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

As mentioned in the English version of the company's press realese, when its battery's full the bike could be achieve a range of 100 km (60 miles) at the speeds expected of a sports motorcycle.
For the most part, however, the BOLD concept appears to be a styling exercise, with most of the press release focusing on aspects such as two-tone paint, plexiglass front fairing and an aluminum tank space that aids in an "aerodynamic fusion between man and the vehicle." So don't expect to see it showing up in anyone's garage anytime soon.

Kept spur your adrenaline on the power of two-wheeled monster and stay alive with the true safety riding. God will forgive Your sins.... *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CAMAL STUDIO | RIDE APART]

Scientists change CO2 into Rock to reduce the Pollutions

Scientists have found a quick way to turn carbon dioxide into rocks and findings have been published in the journal Science. A research project called CarbFix valued at $10 million or Rp.133.3 billion was conducted about 540 meters deep in the rocks of Iceland and has been run for 2 years.

As quoted by the Daily Mail on Sunday, June 12, 2016, the experts reveal that offers new hope to help to fight global warming. When a team of international scientists pump carbon dioxide and liquid acid into bottom basalt rock, basic chemistry takes over.

"The acidic mixture dissolved the rocks' calcium magnesium and formed limestone a permanent natural jail for the heat-trapping gas permanently," explains Juerg Matter, the lead study author from the University of Southampton in England.

"(Carbon dioxide) is no longer the gas," said Matter.

"Basically, the carbon dioxide has turn into a stone," he added.

Scientists who have done this before in the laboratory, thinking that the process could take thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years. But in just two years, 95 percent of the carbon dioxide gas captured is has changed.

"It is what we expected ... and in some ways even better," said geophysicist from Columbia University, David Goldberg, he was not part of the research team but praised the results of these findings.

"What is happening here is a natural process that is accelerated," said Matter.

The finding represents one of the methods for fighting climate change. In addition to reducing fossil fuel emissions, these findings can capture carbon dioxide from power plant air or electricity.

"Catcher carbon is not a silver bullet, but it can make a significant contribution to reducing carbon dioxide emissions," said Matter. But the process is costly, especially on the carbon capture.

After the carbon dioxide captured from the air, how to store them is another problem that must be solved immediately. The gas can be stored underground and is sometimes injected into the empty oil wells. But there are concerns about monitoring and preventing the escape of carbon dioxide. By injecting the gas into basalt and let it naturally processed can indeed solve the problem. However, this process twice more expensive than injecting it into old wells.

There are a lot of basalt rock around the world, in places like the Pacific Northwest, India, and South America, according to Matter. However, according to Goldberg, the more promising is full basalt sea floor, this is also a good place to store carbon dioxide.

CarbFix is a small-scale trial, by using about 15 American carbon emissions and possibly could be improved at low cost. "That would be very good news," said scientist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution for Science. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILY MAIL]
