Nissan’s New Silvia Model Officially in the Works and Set for 2030 Release

This exciting development was shared by none other than Ivan Espinosa, Nissan's Vice President of Global Product Strategy. In his announcement, Espinosa urged the public to be patient, as the electric Silvia is still in its early development stages. While there is plenty of anticipation surrounding the return of the Silvia in a new electric form, Espinosa acknowledged that there are significant challenges that come with creating a high-performance electric sports car.

Reviving a model like the Silvia is no easy task, especially when transitioning to an electric powertrain. Espinosa pointed out that technical hurdles are just one part of the challenge. The project also faces external pressures, including market trends that currently aren't particularly favorable for sports cars. In recent years, demand for traditional sports cars has been declining, making it even more crucial for Nissan to create something that appeals to a global audience.
