Rare ONES - Entering the challenging era of the 1990s, Bugatti Automobiles, the renowned French car manufacturer, found itself in dire straits. At the time, under the ownership of Romano Artioli, the company had recently released the Bugatti EB110, a sportscar based on Marcello Gandini's design, in hopes of reviving its fortunes.

In a strategic move to broaden the market for its new vehicle, Bugatti allowed third-party coachbuilders to create bespoke cars based on the EB110. One notable participant in this endeavor was Rinspeed AG, a Swiss coachbuilder based in Zumikon near Zürich. seizing the opportunity, they introduced a unique supercar named the Rinspeed Bugatti Cyan, based on the recently unveiled Bugatti EB 100 GT.

The name "Cyan" is derived from the Greek word "kuanos," meaning blue, a nod to its base blue color in the printing process. Rinspeed AG meticulously modified the body, enhancing the front skirt with a more aggressive design and a large air intake for the radiators. The iconic "Bugatti-blue" or "bleu-de-France" color further distinguishes this elegant yet sporty dream car.

Maintaining Bugatti's classic design elements, Rinspeed incorporated a horse-shoe-shaped radiator form as an additional air intake for the front hood's air-conditioning. The car features ultra-modern triplet projector lights recessed aerodynamically and covered by glass. The rear view mirrors now seamlessly follow the flow of the cockpit. With rear-mounted air-scoops and an electronically adjustable rear wing, the design optimizes aerodynamics for a top speed exceeding 350 km/h.

The three-piece aluminum wheels, designed by Swabian wheel manufacturer BBS, come in dimensions of 9½ x 18" in the front and 13 x 18" in the rear. Pirelli supplies unique P Zero tire sizes, 245/40 ZR 18 in the front and 325/30 ZR 18 in the rear, aiding in grounding the massive power generated by the upgraded 600 hp engine from the "Supersport" model, and adorned with the Remus-designed exhaust system at the rear section.

The interior of the Rinspeed Bugatti Cyan boasts carefully selected leather, with Bugatti-blue leather covering the dashboard and central console. Brushed aluminum panels from the Austrian company Burg Design enhance the interior's elegance, paying homage to traditional Bugatti materials. The car is equipped with state-of-the-art stereo equipment from Nackamichi and a pan-European handphone from Nokia, offering a kind of advanced communication and multimedia capabilities at the time.
