Introducing a unique sports car named Lancia Hyena, built based on the famous racing car, the Lancia Delta HF, by a well-known Italian design firm, Carrozzeria Zagato. Around 65 years before the emergence of the Hyena, Lancia and Zagato, two renowned Italian auto entities, had worked together on a project.  |

Then, a Dutch Lancia importer, Paul Koot, noticed the success of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale and envisioned creating a sleek two-seater sports car. Coincidentally, a Zagato employee named Marco Pedracini had recently designed an eye-catching coupe that perfectly fit the bill, leading to the birth of the Hyena.

Being a low-volume sports car, building the Hyena was quite costly. Originally, Koot planned to produce only six cars, but after the Hyena's successful debut at the 1992 Brussels Motor Show, attracting 14 orders, he expanded his vision and developed a business plan for this unique Lancia model. However, it seems that Lancia did not share Koot's enthusiasm, resulting in the belief that only 24 Hyenas could be manufactured during 1992 to 1996.

Koot's challenges did not end there: while he intended to build the cars on rolling chassis, Lancia faced difficulties in delivering them. Consequently, Koot had to order complete show-ready Integrales to serve as the basis for each Hyena, which significantly increased production costs, putting the Hyena's price tag at $74,000, equivalent to that of a Ferrari 348. Nevertheless, despite the hurdles, the Hyena, with a weight reduction of 200 kilograms from the Delta's curb weight, proved to be one of the finest sports cars ever produced by Lancia.
