Lucid Gravity: Is this electric SUV worthy to be a Tesla rival?
New EV - One more electric vehicle is soon going to make its debut in the automotive world. Lucid Motors, an American automaker led by Andrew Liveris and Peter Rawlinson, recently teased its upcoming electric SUV, the Lucid Gravity, before the 2022 LA Auto Show. It will be the company's second electric car and their first SUV.

In November 2022, Lucid Motors announced that the Lucid Gravity could be ordered starting in early 2023 and is expected to hit the market in 2024.
According to Peter Rawlinson, the Chief Executive and Chief Technology Officer of Lucid Motors, the Gravity builds upon the company's achievements in developing in-house technology to create a performance SUV that stands out. He also added that just as the Lucid Air redefined the sedan segment, the Gravity would leave a significant impact on the world of luxury SUVs.

Based on the latest teaser, it appears that the Gravity will share the same platform as the Lucid Air. The front view of the vehicle, with its familiar face resembling the Lucid Air, is equipped with inline DRLs on the front hood and vertical lights on the sides of the bumper.

When observing the side profile, the Lucid Gravity resembles a large three-row SUV, similar to the Rivian R1S and Tesla Model X. The SUV will feature a glass roof that extends into a spoiler, a Gravity emblem on the D-pillar, and a rear end akin to the Lucid Air.

In terms of advanced technology, the Gravity is expected to come equipped with the Glass Cockpit feature and the Lucid UX software. Additionally, the Lucid DreamDrive's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) will likely complement the SUV.

As for technical details related to the drivetrain, they have not been officially disclosed yet. However, it is anticipated that the drivetrain will be similar to its predecessor, the Lucid Air, which offers options ranging from one to three electric motors, providing power output ranging from 480 hp to 1,200 hp.

In April 2023, there were sightings of a camouflaged electric SUV believed to be the Lucid Gravity, being tested on public roads throughout the U.S. However, an official launch date has not been confirmed by Lucid Motors.

Regarding the pricing and specifications, Lucid has not made any official announcements. However, Car and Driver estimates that the base trim of the Gravity will start at $120K, while the top-end Sapphire model will begin at $250K.
Similar to its sedan counterpart, the Lucid Air Sapphire, the Gravity Sapphire is expected to offer a powerful performance of 1,200 horsepower and a range of at least 400 miles on a single charge.
