Originally intended for full-scale racing production, Koenigsegg had to abandon its CCGT Coupé model plans for the GT1 Class Competition after creating only one, and now it's available for sale. This extraordinary model carries a captivating history and showcases some incredible capabilities that any future owner would be proud of.

Back in 2003, Koenigsegg launched the CCGT program, which eventually made its debut in 2007. The car was specially designed for the GT1 Class, led by Dag Bölenius, an engineer and programmer, and assisted by supercar engineer Loris Bicocchi, who served as the test driver as well.

Built on the CCR platform, the car was initially developed to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans series, complying with FIM regulations for LMP prototype cars. Its carbon fiber body and chassis weigh around 1,000 kg, enabling it to generate up to 600 kg of downforce at top speeds, thanks to its large rear wing.

The chassis number YT9M1GOV8 007012 uniquely identifies it as the only racing car ever produced by Koenigsegg. Equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine featuring 32 valves, the car delivers an impressive output of 600 bhp (591 hp / 441 kW), coupled with a sequential gearbox that powers its rear wheels. Remarkably, the car still sports its original Michelin racing tires.

However, due to homologation issues, the car's production was halted. This was a result of FIA and ACO regulations, which required Koenigsegg to produce 20 production cars when the project commenced. Midway through, new regulations demanded the homologation of 350 production cars per year, making it impossible for the CCGT GT1 program to comply.

As reported by Top Gear, this unique model stands as a tribute to the dedication of Bölenius, Bicocchi, and the rest of the team. It was later auctioned by Bonhams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 14, 2023, with an estimated auction price of £3,000,000 - £4,000,000 (Rp.57 billion – Rp.76.2 billion). Before the auction, the CCGT Coupé was owned by Bard Eker, the largest shareholder of Koenigsegg Automotive, a former Offshore Class 1 World Champion, and the owner of Ever Design.
According to reports, the Masters Historic Racing organization has granted permission for the car to compete in the Masters Endurance Legends Series, given its compliance with GT1 regulations, should the future owner choose to do so.
