One such player is AIM Co.Ltd., a Japanese engineering company based in Nagoya with expertise in automotive design and technology. Founded in 1998, AIM has worked on various projects, including the development of a V10 engine for endurance racing cars. In 2010, they achieved success by delivering the LMP1 Oreca 01 car, which finished fourth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans races.
AIM recently unveiled their first electric vehicle concept, the AIM EV Sport 01. Like many other companies, AIM is looking towards an all-electric future, and the EV Sport 01 serves as a platform to showcase their capabilities. This car features an aluminum frame, a carbon fiber center tube, and upward-opening front doors.

According to a report by GizmocChina, the AIM EV Sport 01 received positive feedback and rave reviews from fans and experts in Japan after its initial debut in April. Encouraged by this response, AIM is considering limited production of the car. However, before reaching this milestone, the electric vehicle must undergo rigorous testing and evaluations.
One of the key components of the EV Sport 01 is the APM200 electric motor, which is utilized in a dual motor rear-wheel drive configuration. This electric sports car is expected to generate significant excitement as it promises to redefine performance and design in the EV world.

In terms of specifications, the AIM EV Sport 01 is truly impressive. Weighing only 3,141 pounds (1,425 kilograms), this two-seater coupe packs a combined power of 483 horsepower (360 kilowatts) and 545 pound-feet (740 Newton-meters) of torque from its APM200 dual motors. Torque vectoring ensures precise control of power delivery, while a 720V input and 380 kW output inverter facilitate efficient operation.
AIM estimates that the car's four 81 kWh lithium battery packs could provide a driving range of up to 186 miles (300 km). Although the performance figures have not been disclosed, the lightweight car's aerodynamic shape and high power output indicate extraordinary acceleration and handling capabilities.

Despite its smaller size compared to the Mazda Miata, with a length of 153.5 inches (3.9 meters), the EV Sport 01 falls into the subcompact car category. However, its width of 74.8 inches (1.9 meters) and low stance of 47.2 inches (1.2 meters) give it a solid feel on the road. The car's multi-tubular aluminum frame chassis, combined with the double-wishbone suspension system, ensures optimal stability and responsive handling.
The AIM EV Sport 01 showcases a stunning exterior design that combines the essence of classic sports cars with modern elegance. The car was designed by the SN Design Platform, led by renowned automotive designer Shiro Nakamura. Nakamura, formerly Nissan's Global Head of Design for nearly two decades and known for his work on iconic models like the Nissan GT-R, Cube, and Leaf.

Regarding the AIM EV Sport 01, Shiro Nakamura stated that he drew inspiration from the spirit of great sports cars of the past, incorporating a rear-wheel-drive configuration and layout. His aim was to express dynamism with sophisticated elegance through simple and clean designs.
As a result, the AIM EV Sport 01 features a minimalist form language and avoids overly complicated surfaces, reminiscent of European and Japanese sports cars from the 1960s. With this inspiration, AIM feels confident in showcasing this compact electric car at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Although there are no definitive plans for large-scale production, the possibility of limited production gives hope to electric sports car enthusiasts. Furthermore, AIM's presence at automotive events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed demonstrates their commitment and readiness to follow the future direction and become a relevant player in the global automotive industry. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AIM CO.LTD. | SNDP | GIZMOCHINA | INSIDEEVS | ARENAEV | CARSCOOPS | CARANDDRIVER | CARMAGAZINE | GOODWOOD ]
