The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is the 3rd Maranello's Icona Series model
New BredFerrari officially launched their latest limited production model, the Ferrari Daytona SP3, at a special event called the 2021 Ferrari Finali Mondiali held at the Mugello Circuit some time ago. This new car is the third member of the Icona series after the Monza SP1 and SP2 back in the 2018.

The Daytona name of the new Icona directly evokes us to the legendary 1-2-3 brilliant winning finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona 1967 and pays homage to the Ferrari sports prototypes that helped earn the marque its unparalleled motor sport status.

At first glance, the new Daytona SP3 looks similar to the La Ferrari Aperta, with a completely redesigned body by Flavio Manzoni and his team. Although Ferrari's designers were inspired by the rounded shapes of the Ferrari 330 P3/4, 330 P4 and 412 P race cars that brilliantly dominated the Daytona in the '60s, but infact this modern supercar have a more aggressive look with sharper edges.

As you can see, the Ferrari Daytona SP3's design has a harmonious interplay of contrasts, sublimely sculptural, voluptuous surfaces alternating with the kind of sharper lines that revealed the burgeoning importance of aerodynamics in the design of racers such as the Ferrari 330 P4, 350 Can-Am and 512 S.

The new Ferrari Daytona SP3’s interior skews modern, by using the same digital dashboard and UI as the SF90 Stradale. Seats are integrated into the body, and driving position adjustment is by a movable pedal box. The way the fabric for both sides links over the center tunnel is another nod to the way the '60s sports cars were designed.

Although these official images only show it without a roof, the SP3 features a clip-in targa panel and so should be more usable than its predecessors in Ferrari’s Icona series, the roofless and screenless Monza SP1 and SP2. The bold choice of a 'Targa' body with a removable hard top was also inspired by the sports prototype world and consequently, the Daytona SP3 not only delivers exhilarating driving pleasure but also usable performance.

Meanwhile from a technical perspective, the Daytona SP3 takes its inspiration from the sophisticated engineering solutions already adopted in racing the 1960s, in which maximum performance was achieved by working on the three fundamental areas such engine, chassis and aerodynamics.
2022 Ferrari Daytona SP3 is powered by a naturally-aspirated V12, mid-rear-mounted engine coupled with a 7-speed gearbox which capable spew out 840 cv along with 697 Nm of torque and maximum revs of 9,500 rpm. (Picture from: Carscoops)
Well, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is powered by a naturally-aspirated V12, mid-rear-mounted engine coupled with a 7-speed gearbox which capable spew out 829 hp along with 697 Nm of torque and maximum revs of 9,500 rpm, and making it as the most powerful internal combustion engine ever to come out from Maranello auto breder, hiding under an aerodynamic low-slung body with a targa top.

The chassis is built entirely from composite materials using Formula 1 technologies that have not been seen in a road car since the Ferrari LaFerrari, Maranello's last supercar. The seat is an integral part of the chassis to reduce weight and guarantee the driver a driving position similar to that of a competition car.
2022 Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be made in limited numbers of 599 units only, and each costing €2 million (about $2.3 million at today’s exchange rates). (Picture from: Carscoops)
Lastly, just like the cars that inspired it, the aerodynamic research and design focused on achieving maximum efficiency purely using passive aero solutions. Thanks to unprecedented features, such as chimneys that extract low-pressure air from the underbody, the Daytona SP3 is the most aerodynamically efficient car ever built by Ferrari without resorting to active aero devices.
Due to the clever integration of the technical innovations, making the car capable to accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 2.85 seconds and from zero to 200 kph in just 7.4 seconds. No wonder if the automaker said that's such exhilarating performance, an extreme set-up, and the intoxicating V12 soundtrack deliver completely unparalleled driving pleasure.
