'The Concept' symbolises of a Renault's upcoming subcompact SUV

There was something disturbing the view when I saw the figure of Renault's subcompact SUV. The car with a minimalist and unique shape look very beautiful. Yes, this famous French automotive manufacturer seems to have succeeded in making an eye-catching subcompact SUV concept car.

As qouted of Gaadiwaadi, Renault has the Duster as one of its popular product but its average monthly sales number has decreased in recent years. To keep up with the trend, the French company needs another vehicle to partner along with the top-selling Kwid in order to boost its market share.

The vehicle in question could well be the one based on 'The Concept' showcased at the India Auto Expo 2018. It could carry the production name 'Triber' and is expected to make debut at sometime next year.

The car made its first debut and filled the Renault's booth at those automotive event along with other version productions and concepts such as Renault Kwid Climber, Lodgy Stepway, Duster, TREZOR Concept and Zoe EV. This concept car is the work of one of the participants from the Renault's Design Academy in India named Gautam Muthuswamy.

Renault 'The Concept' comes with a design language way beyond the perception that it would give way for a conventional subcompact SUV. It is more of a global concept when you glance at it with autonomous functions and electric powertrain technology.

It is painted in the brand’s signature yellow colour and the front fascia resembles the one seen in the Renault one-make series with the Renault Sport R. S. 01 race car and the recently revealed Megane RS.

The appealing design elements are yellow accented wide front lip spoiler and LED strips shrouding the blackened grille assembly. It has a smooth flowing side profile and the rear wheels are moved to their extremes to have a compact wheelbase as well as a teardrop roofline.

The rear end is nothing but bonkers to say the least with horizontal and vertical light strips on the fenders and stepped connections. There is no rear glass panel as the inverted baseball cap styled yellow roof ends abruptly and has dotted top layer finish.

Besides the wild LED lighting thoughts on the sides and the funky wheels, The Concept has an equally futuristic interior. Stepping inside the cabin, you could feel the minimalistic appeal and the dashboard is as clean as it gets.

In contrary to speculations that the subcompact SUV could be based on the Kwid, Renault seems to have a clear intention of introducing its latest global design philosophy in India going by the concept’s styling.

Finally speaking about powertrain, if this SUV have been made its version production, it will surely be available in both petrol and diesel engine options and we might see the engines borrowed from Renault Duster. However not rule out the possibility that Renault might opt for new powertrains as well.

The concept may give some indication of how the front profile will look like in the sub-four metre SUV but we will have to wait for the official confirmation.

Yes indeed, this concept car still has a long way to go to become a version production.
