WEY X Concept takes high road to autonomy

Haval, a Chinese car manufacturer specializing in SUV products doesn't seem to be outdone by Japanese and German producers at an event held in his own country by exhibiting concept cars that have applied autonomous driving technology at the Beijing Motor Show 2018.

Yes, they featured a minimalist SUV that appeared in striking orange color and was named the WEY X concept, this concept aligned with WEY, the luxury brand of Great Wall's parent company, and featured future technologies designed to meet the 'Level Five' autonomous driving criteria.

Besides that, this car also features advanced assistant features with 3D holographic as found in Star Trek sc-fi movies. This feature functions as a future automotive Siri. During bad weather, artificial intelligence systems will "mirror that of a highly trained human driver" to minimize the potential of an accident.

Other futuristic features include the exception of traditional keys and buttons that have been replaced with a full biometric identification system. Through this system each registered user can make unique set-up that match their preferences from seating, music and navigation.

Drawing inspiration from the 2017 'XEV' concept from WEY, X is a complete electric vehicle with coupe-like styling, two large doors, low roof, small greenhouse and high waist. As an illustration of Haval's WEY X concept it is a coupe-style vehicle that is described as a high-performance SUV that has a sports car gene as well as the comfort and luxury of a limousine.

This concept car has an aggressive front look without a grille and narrow headlights. Then it moves to sweep to the back where there is a sloping roof line. While the side is equipped with four large black alloy wheels.

These concept car also has vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication technology that Haval says "identifies and predicts potential risks in advance to minimise the potential for accidents."
Powertrain details remain under wraps for the time being, but Haval has confirmed that full-electric propulsion is used – as indicated by the mostly solid front grille and lack of exhaust outlets. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARGUIDE | TECHAU | GOAUTO]
