This is the true heir of the McLaren F1

Some time ago, we have presented a glimpse of the new 3 seater car from McLaren called the McLaren Speedtail. This car is described as a supercar figure which is also touted as the successor of the McLaren F1 and sold at a very expensive price. Of course you still remember to the McLaren F1, right?

Yes, the supercar which was only produced as many as 106 units is one of the cars that once held the record as the world's fastest car in the 90s. All of this is certainly inseparable from the history of technology developed by premium car manufacturers based in Woking UK.

To continue the triumph of these car, the manufacturer released its successor known as the McLaren P1 from the GTR to LM versions. It seems they do not stop here just a while ago they also officially display the next successor of the McLaren F1 by deploying all the capabilities of McLaren Special Operations team (MSO) so these McLaren Speedtail were born.

This supercar comes with the latest McLaren design language, at a glance by looking at the front fascia you might be familiar immediately because the shape is a combination of P1 and 720s. It seems that the headlight that has the shape of its own symbol has become a McLaren trademark at this time. Because even though it was made flat and a little sharper, McLaren still made it curl according to its glory. Indeed, the projector LED headlight is not full following the symbol and only on the top side. But the thin DRL still follows the outline of McLaren's 'boomerang'.

Each panel in the body of McLaren Speedtail is made of carbon fiber designed to reduce weight and wind resistance. While a pair of static front wheel covers serves to reduce turbulence around the arch and allow Speetail to reach the highest speed mentioned earlier.

The use of a new type of carbon fiber monocage chassis made from lightweight that features titanium woven, fully carbon fiber body panels, and even the use of one carat white gold on the car's emblem makes the curb weight only 1.430 kg. The rearview mirror is not seen on this car, instead a pair of retractable digital cameras can be mounted on the tail end, which is useful in addition to monitoring the situation behind the vehicle, also to improve aerodynamic performance.

The aerodynamic aspect really noticed by McLaren engineers, which was also applied to the front wheel cover to reduce turbulence around the fender and support Speetail's performance to reach top speed. To minimize the effect of wind resistance, the rear end of Speedtail is made to extend to 5,137 mm, which makes it 549 mm longer than P1 and 600 mm longer than the Bugatti Chiron.

Enter to the car's interior by opening the motorized door that is typical of McLaren, and in this section you will find out why Speedtail is made to continue the image of its predecessor F1. Then the typical F1 3-seater configuration is again pinned on this supercar with the composition of one driver's seat in the middle flanked by 2 passenger seats on the left and right. A futuristic aura emanates from the Speedtail cabin. Not only the seating layout, but the high definition screen in front of the driver plus a touch screen that extends on the dashboard, making the Speedtail display clean from various control buttons.

The dashboard panel itself has a very minimalist shape. There are no lines that crawl or collide. Then there are three large screens that adorn the panel to adjust various car settings such as air conditioning in the cabin and also in car entertainment.

Unfortunately McLaren and MSO as well still have not given a statement about the engine used in this supercar. Many speculate that this car uses a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine as used by McLaren Senna. Coupled with an electric motor, this car is expected to have a power output of 1,035 hp.

So it's not surprising that the supercar can accelerate from 0 to 300 kph in just 13.8 seconds and sped up to a top speed of 403 kph. As a brand-new model, McLaren Speedtail represents a new chapter of the Ultimate Series owned by these British car manufacturer.

This supercar will be made in a limited number of only 106 units same as its predecessor as well and reportedly has been sold entirely. The selling price of each unit starts from £1.75 million or around US. $2.24 million (around Rp.34 billion) plus taxes. The first shipping is expected to begin in 2020. And the consumers are given the freedom to request a different display, so that all Speedtail made, is guaranteed not to be the same with each other.
