Famous Russian gunmaker built a retro-looks EV to rival Tesla

The Russian arms manufacturer, Kalashnikov has been launched their newest CV-1 electric car whose model was inspired by Russian typical vehicles in the 1970s, but carries the latest technology that is ready to compete with Tesla. (How could it be a Tesla rival? Still looking for the answer until today.)

These Russian company is a well-known name for producing AK-47 guns, recently presented the retro-looking CV-1 electric car with a classic light blue band at a defense exhibition outside Moscow. This car was inspired by a Soviet hatchback model developed in 1970 named "Izh-Kombi," according to a Kalashnikov statement, as reported by AFP.

Kalashnikov said it had developed several advanced elements for the electric supercar, including a "revolutionary" inverter. The vehicle is claimed to be able to travel 350 kilometers with a single charge. "We are developing our own concept for electric supercars, which are based on several original systems developed by the company," the company said.

The Russian news agency, TASS, reported that Kalashnikov will supply electric motorbikes and as well as electric cars to the United Arab Emirates as part of its collaboration with Mawarid Holding, said Kalashnikov Deputy CEO Olga Boytsova, on Friday, August 24, 2018. Previously reported, that the Kalashnikov has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mawarid Holdings, a leading manufacturer and investment in the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement aims at the first export supply of electric vehicles produced by Kalashnikov. Especially is the UM-1 electric motorbike and UV-4 electric car aimed at the 'civilian market' which looks a bit like a Renault Twizy. And the delivery of electric vehicles is scheduled for 2018-2019, she added.
