Finally Audi PB18 e-tron Concept revealed

Audi has been introduced the design and concept of the latest electric car called the Audi PB18 e-tron Concept at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week event in Monterey California. The PB18 e-tron name is taken from the name Pebble Beach, the place where the German auto company announced the concept of the car for the first time, and the DNA of the technology embedded in the successful LMP1 race car, the Audi R18 e-tron.

At first glance, the appearance of the Audi PB18 e-tron seems to have in common with other concept cars from Audi namely the 2017 Audi Aicon. Some similarities are seen, among others, the design of the side window that curves inward, the long wheel arches and both use electric drives with solid-state batteries as energy storage. The difference is that Audi Aicon is designed as a luxury vehicle remotely, while the PB18 e-tron is designed for racing tracks and highways.

Interestingly, the driver's seat on the Audi PB18 e-tron can be shifted as needed. When driving solo, the driver's seat can be shifted to the center, so the interior look similar to a race car. The driver's seat is integrated with the gas and brake pedals.

However, when the driver wants to drive like a car in general, the position of the driver's seat can be shifted to the side. While additional seats for passengers can be installed on the other side.

Head of design for the Audi Loft in Malibu - where the Audi PB18 e-tron was born - Gael Buzyn said, "We want to offer an experience that is only available in racing cars like the Audi R18. However, our goal is to provide comfort for everyday use, not only for drivers, but also for passengers." That's why we develop an interior for the ideal driver position in the middle," he said furthermore as quoted from Audi-mediacenter.

The Audi PB18 e-tron has a dimension of 4.53 meters in length, 2 meters in width and 1.15 meters in height. The wheels used are 22 inches sized and are equipped with 275/35 tires on the front and 315/30 tires on the rear, according to Audi-mediacenter.

This car uses the concept of three powerful electric motors and is located on the front (one unit) and the rear (two units). The maximum output produced is 500 kW, but the driver can increase up to 570 kW. The combined torque of this car is 830 Newton meters which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds.
The Audi PB18 e-tron is equipped with a liquid-cooled solid-state battery with an energy capacity of 95kWh. When the battery is fully charged, the distance range provided can be more than 500 kilometers (310.7 miles) in the WLTP cycle. While related to battery charging, this car has been designed to charge with a voltage of 800 volts, which means it can be fully charged within 15 minutes.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MOTOR1 | DPC CARS]
