Bajaj taking a new role for the 1st time on the large-engined motorcycle segment

Bajaj Auto will launch a new motorcycle named Bajaj Dominar 400, on December 15, 2016 in India. And the bike is positioned over the Pulsar model. Furthermore, Bajaj Auto President Eric Vas claims that Dominar 400 already drew the attention of the lovers of sport bikes, although not yet officially released.

"We are delighted to announce the name of this bike. Dominar 400 had managed to seize a lot of attention from the bikers," he said, as quoted by IBTimes on Friday, December 2, 2016.

The Dominar word itself is taken from the Spanish meaning 'excel in power'. This motorcycle designed with a naked stance and cruising like design and already produced at the company's Chakan plant began November 18, 2016. This bike uses a 373 cc single oil cooled engine that manages to produce up to 41 ps of power.

However, there is no information whether the Bajaj Dominar 400 will be exported to other countries. Previously, Bajaj had been widely known in under-250 cc motorcycles market, through the Pulsar and Avenger models.

About pricing of the bike is still not out yet, but considering what Bajaj did with its smaller 200 cc variant Pulsar, we could expect the Dominar 400 to considerably be priced lower than the KTM Duke 390.

Meanwhile, the presence of Dominar 400 arguably was a new history for Bajaj due to begin taking a role as new player in a large-engined motorcycle segment by bringing its own brand as well.
