It had appeared at the Geneva Motor Show 2014, the Quant e-SportLimousine sports car concept managed to amaze the visitors. Not only because of its design that combines a sporty and futuristic concept, but also its driving force. Yes, the sports car is powered by saltwater.
The concept car of NanoFlowcell brings the technology ever used the US space agency (NASA). But mechanically, the car is not as simple as imagined, which is just to fill the tank with sea water.

Based on development models on display at the Geneva Motor Show 2015, Quantino, the concept works like a glimpse of batteries or accumulators. There are two tanks that are used each with a capacity of 159 liters. The both tanks are filled with different liquid electrolyte, one positive and the other negative. Both are separated by a membrane, but there is a meeting point of the two types of the liquid where the results of the meeting to produce electricity.

Quantino electric motor capable of producing the power up to 136 hp. The car's acceleration from 0-100 kilometers per hour can be achieved in 5 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h. Although still a prototype, but the car has been legally to be used on public roads.
So, how can the salt water can drive the wheels of a car? The salt water, called the bi-Ion that is both organic and inorganic salt solution. NASA did research in 1970 but gave up because of the energy it produces is so weak.

However, the findings were further developed by NanoFlowcell. Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of NanoFlowcell, Nunzio la Vecchia curious to be able to refine these findings. After 16 years of deepening, he was able to find a breakthrough of electric energy from the brine whose energy is able to beat the lithium ion batteries.
Unfortunately, Vecchia reluctant to reveal his findings because the patent is still pending. But he's a give a little leak. Each bi-Ion contain positive and negative charges.

Automobiles pumping liquids through the membrane and meet at one point and produce electricity. Saline had met the then evaporate and disappear in the air. Nevertheless the liquid is not dangerous anymore.
Over time, the liquids in the tank will be depleted. The tank can be filled again with saline so the next. The advantage, salt water easily produced and widely available. But not just any salt water, there is still a secret formulation by NanoFlowcell.

NanoFlowcell continues to develop its products. However affirmed by Vecchia, his company not a car manufacturer but rather engaged in the field of technology. And cars ever made, as well as Quantino, Quant e-Sportlimousine will not be sold.
However NanoFlowcell already in talks with the major automotive companies to explore the sale of this technology in 2017.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | BBC]
