The studies conducted by researchers at Stanford University, Princeton University and the University of California-Berkeley show that in the last century, when more than 400 vertebrate disappeared, extinction rates at least 114 times higher than the normal level.
The findings, published by the Science Advances journal, similar to the one in the report by researchers from Duke University last year. Recent studies mention climate change, pollution and deforestation are among the factors that trigger mass extinction today.
The last mass extinction wiped out the dinosaurs at 65 million years ago, that believed happen when a huge meteor hit the Earth. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | VOA NEWS]
