"There is no five-second rule. It is a myth. We do not recommend it," said Rachel William, a nutritionist from Australia. Furthermore, she explained, there are several types of food that needs to be considered whether it could be consumed if it falls on the floor.

"All depends on the bacteria. The bacteria actually thrive in damp areas. So, if the wet food that falls, it could be more dangerous because it is very easy bacteria thrive in the wet food," she explained.

Conversely, if the dry food that falls, she said, the bacteria will be more difficult to develop. Biscuits, cakes, or rice is dry food groups so that the bacteria difficult to settle and grow.

Meanwhile, raw meat, cheese, rice, and processed foods that are classified in the wet food that easily become a hotbed of bacteria. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SRIWIJAYA POST]
