Here's the Robear at your service

Forget the creepy android face as much depicted in science fiction, because the robots in the future can actually have a cute face, like a polar bear robot named 'Robear' that can lift and lay the elderly to bed.

Robear has a cute face with big round eyes, but in fact the robot is designed with enough force to lift a patient from a wheelchair to a bed or bathroom, said Japan's Riken Institute, on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

"The polar bears look are expected to emit atmospheric strength, friendliness and cleanliness at the same time," said Toshiharu Mukai, the research leader told AFP. "We chose this design from among the choices given by the designers. We hope to commercialize this robot in the near future," he said.

Low birth rates and rising life expectancy in Japan made a number of elderly population increases while the number of young people shrink. Reluctance to accept large-scale immigration makes Japan should increase its reliance on robots, especially for jobs that require physical skill. It needs combined with a love of Japan on things cute, so they invented a machine with a funny face with a sound like children.

"Because Japan is aging with fewer children, elderly caregiver shortage problem is getting serious," Riken said in the statement. "There is great hope that the robot can overcome this problem," it said further. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SPACEDAILY]
