The police car with the stolen car detector

Police authorities in Aalter, Belgium got a new patrol car units, namely Skoda Octavia vRS. Remarkably, this Belgian police car is equipped with a vehicle license plate number recognition system called ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition).

The device was able to record the license plate number and then the software compares with the data which stored in the vehicle registration data center. If there's detected a fake license plate and suspected as the stolen car, the police authorities will be alerted and immediately gave chase to check the car.

In Belgium, the Skoda Octavia vRS actually sold at a priced only €29,490 (Rp. 421.8 million). But this special police car was sold at a higher price with the addition of the ANPR system. One unit was sold at €85,000 (Rp. 1.21 billion) and the ANPR device taped on the car's hood to be able to read the other car's plate number. With the addition of these tools make the car look a little different.

The Skoda Octavia vRS was able to achieve acceleration from zero to a speed of 100 kph (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 248 kph (154 mph).
