A number of reports from Russia recently stated that a country's researchers have found an asteroid with the size of a 400-meter which could create havoc for the Earth.
However, based on the calculation of NASA and Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, an asteroid named 2014 UR116 was not a threat to Earth, at least for the next 150 years.
"A number of recent media reports said that an asteroid called 2014 UR116, which was found on October 27, 2014 at the MASTER-II observatory in Kislovodsk, Russia, give the message of collision threat to Earth," said officials at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.
"In addition to the asteroid is about 400 meters has a three-year period orbit around the Sun and return to the Earth's environment periodically, this asteroid is not order a threat because of its orbital path is not close enough cross Earth's orbit," NASA said as quoted by Space.com. At least to give the message that we are more aware of the danger of collisions space objects. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SPACE.COM]
