The new species of wasp found in Thailand. Interestingly, the wasp's scientific name is taken from a character in the Harry Potter series, dementors. In a publication in the PLoS ONE journal on April 22, 2014, the scientists stated that the name was taken because the Ampulex dementor wasps character actually resembles the dementors.

Wasps are able to transform their prey of cockroach into a similar zombie with their sting, like Dementors claiming lives with deadly kiss. Before giving the name of the wasps, scientists seek input from the public on the proper name.
One other name proposed is 'A. mon', taken from the ethnic that inhabit the area where the wasp was found. The other two are 'A. bicolor', taken from wasp character dominated two colors, namely black and orange, as well as 'A. plagiarist' because the behavior of wasps that resemble the ants.
