Jason Barnes suffered an accident two years ago made him lose his right forearm. He who is a musical drummers drumming almost lost his dream.
As reported by The Verge, on March 9, 2014, an advanced prosthetic device or artificial human body parts can continue to beat the drum making. He was assisted by Professor Gil Weinberg from the Georgia Institute of Technology for the manufacture of a robot arm.
This is one of the coolest prosthetics we’ve seen- a robotic arm that actually improves the drumming skills of the wearer. (Picture from: http://www.theverge.com/) |
"It's pretty amazing," said Jason. This new device involves a process of electromyography, which can follow the direction of movement of the hands of Jason electrical signals produced by muscles of the upper arm part.
To use the robotic arm, Jason had to rely on his muscles to control small motors handle drumsticks. This tool actually gives an advantage over the musicality Jason, because his right arm cyborg is able to hold two drumsticks at once.
An embedded chip that allows two sticks to play with different rhythms. Jason can master this prosthetic arm and beat the drum faster than ordinary people. "(He) basically drummer who became a cyborg," Weinberg said. He said, Jason will perform at a concert event Atlanta Science Festival which was held on March 22, 2014.
"It's interesting to see him play and improvise with the sleeves, which he does not fully control," he said .. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | THE VERGE]
