As reported by ScienceDaily, on Monday, March 17, 2014, the sun coupled with pigment titanium will probably be the secret recipe for cleaning drugs, pesticides and other harmful pollutants from drinking water. The scientists made several high-tech components to purify water for rural communities or developing countries.
This idea was included in the list of 10 thousand presentation event was held at the National Meeting & Exposition, American Chemical Society (ACS) in Dallas. Anne Morrissey, a scientist who explained this new technology, one day it could be used in consumer products that are easy to use.
With this method, water is claimed to be more clear as stubborn pollutant removal process for drinking water. He and his team at Dublin City University, Ireland start with a compound called titanium dioxide (TiO2).
These compounds are commonly used to whiten paints, paper, toothpaste, foods and other products. With the right energy, TiO2 can also act as a catalyst, or a molecule that drives chemical reactions.
This catalyst can beat undesirable compounds in drinking water such as pesticides and drugs. TiO2 compounds generally can only be activated by ultraviolet light. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SCIENCEDAILY]
