The first Australian Electric Supercar

Varley is a 125 year-old Australian company specializing in aerospace, defense and electric vehicles. Therefore, this is not surprising to see the company hitting the same technology in making new electric supercar.

Going on the same way, the company has produced a head turning electric sports car called evR450, the less-than U.S. $215,000 gull-winged sports car has been displayed at the Third Annual Australian Electric Vehicle Conference in Brisbane.

The key to the Varley evR450's scintillating performance is its lightweight construction, which is comprised mostly of carbon fiber and other advanced composite materials. And the Varley looks forward to collaborating with another EV experts such as Tritium Wavesculptor and Ultramotive Technologies in order to introduce new features in its sports car.

The supercar is driven by an electric motor twin carbon ironless core made specifically by Ultramotive Technologies and inverter-made Tritium Wavesculptor. and each motor can generate a maximum power of 150 kW (210 hp) and 522 Nm of torque and offers continuous power supply of 58 kW/122 Nm. Weight of the motors is only 40 kg (88 lbs) excluding inductors, the 300 kW (420 hp) of power will be pushing a very light vehicle, and with in excess of 1,000 Nm of torque, acceleration can be expected to be blistering.

The evR450 is powered by Lithium Ion cells in a 24 kWh pack and can be easily charged by plugging in to mains power for 8 hours. The Inverters that control the AC motors are described as "state of the art", coming off the back of years of development in the electric solar racing industry.

Batteries are also able to give strength to the electric car is to be able to accelerate from rest to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds and and has an electronically limited top speed of 200 kph (125mph). In case an extra lithium-ion battery pack is added (but obviously heavier), the range of the car will double from 150 km (93.21 miles) to 300 km (186.42 miles). The estimated price of this Australian electric supercar is below the AUS $200,000 (or U.S. $213,000 or €151,000). *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | VARLEY | GIZMAG | MOTOR AUTHORIRY]
