Since when 'Adam' live on Earth? That question could be answered by knowing the age of the Y chromosome, the chromosome of the male sex determinant. A recent study conducted by Dr. Erain Elhaik from the University of Sheffield revealed that the male have been existed around 209,000 years ago.
By that age, the male were existed 9,000 years earlier than expected, which is also the same age as 'Eve' mitochondria. "We say with certainty that modern humans arose in Africa since 200,000 years ago," said Elhaik.
Elhaik findings refute earlier findings by University of Arizona scientists that published in the Journal of Human Genetics. The study revealed the Y chromosome since 120,000-156,000 years ago. Meanwhile, the female existed since 99,000 to 148,000 years ago. Based on that study, the Y chromosome was the interbreeding result. In the past, the men and women living in the same era, but probably never met.
Elhaik revealed, "We show that the study conducted at University of Arizona do not meet scientific standards." According to Elhaik, as reported by the Design Trend, on Thursday, January 23, 2014, the previous study created the chaos of space and time. "It is certain that modern humans was not experience interbred with homonin in the past 500,000 years," said Elhaik.
"It is clear also that no one Adam and Eve, but many of Adam and Eve who live side by side," he added. To determine the age of Adam, Elhaik using the formula, the average age of the male when they have first child multiplied by the number of mutations divided by the Y chromosome mutation rate. By using the formula, Elhaik also revealed that previous studies done by manipulating the variables in the formula so that the male age were more older.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DESIGN TREND | SCIENCEDAILY]

'Adam,' or humanity's most recent common ancestor, was 9,000 years older than previously thought, according to a new study. The results suggest that that "modern humans emerged in Africa a little over 200,000 years ago," according to lead researcher Dr. Eran Elhaik. (Picture from: http://www.sciencedaily.com/) |
