If you are a true automotive enthusiasts, certainly would know the figure of the legendary Ford GT supercar. Although ultimately short-lived, Ford’s beloved GT-– a mid-engine two-seater produced from 2004 through 2006 as an ode to the GT40 racers of the ’60s – was recently resurrected by Galpin Auto Sports for a showcase at 2013 Quail Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, California.

Starting with the 2005 model, Galpin tapped Doug Breuninger – an Art Center student at the time – to re-envision the sports car as a powerful supercar.. Kicking off with an initial run of six cars before ultimately finishing off with 24 builds in all, Galpin’s Ford GTR1 will be priced at more than U.S. $1 million.
All supercar's body made by hand and was widened by 5” compared to the Ford GT, and constructed by renowned concept car builder Metalcrafters. It features 20” forged aluminum knock-off wheels fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires, 6-piston brakes with full carbon rotors, jeweled headlamps and tail lamps and carbon fiber accents.
The interior boasts a machined aluminum instrument cluster, a McIntosh sound system, and luxurious hand fabricated leather trimmed seats, dash, door panels and headliner. The Galpin Ford GTR1 will be extremely limited in production, with a choice of aluminum or carbon fiber bodies.
The GTR1 boasts a massive 5.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine capable of 1,024 hp (764 kW) and 998 Nm (739 lb-ft) of torque, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds, and a top speed of 362 kph (225 mph) – making it a truly modern and bold American mid-engine supercar. And according to Autoblog, the supercar's engine can spewed up to 1,197 horsepower when fed 100-octane fuel.
“We’re incredibly excited and honored to celebrate the culmination of Galpin’s 60 years of creating unique vehicles with the debut of our first supercar at such respected venues,” commented Beau Boeckmann, Vice President of Galpin Motors and President of Galpin Auto Sports. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GALPIN AUTO SPORTS | AUTOBLOG]
