Waiting for the emergence of Mega-Mac

British car manufacturer, McLaren, which is known as a Formula 1 racing car maker seems serious to manage the supercar market. Some time ago the company has produced the highway version of sports car, McLaren MP4-12C. And according to some of the leading automotive online media mention that the manufacturer is also preparing a super-new variant.

As reported by Autocar, the super car was known internally as the 'Mega Mac', the new car is scheduled for a 2014 launch. The supercar will be produced in a limited numbers. The price is expected to be £400,000 (about €460,000) in today’s money.

According to insiders, the styling of the Mega Mac will be 'bigger, angrier and more functional looking' than the MP4-12C, although it will have a family resemblance to both the current car and the McLaren F1.

It added that McLaren have been testing new variants in Spain and Bahrain. Originally, the car will be brought to Germany to be refined. "Testing in Bahrain was to determine the extent to which resilience car in hot weather," said a source in the McLaren.

Until now, McLaren has not given an official statement particulars of the engine and other technical specifications of the supercar. Although from several sources that involved in the cultivation of the supercar mention that Mega-Mac will carry the latest generation V8 engine with a capacity of 5,000 cc.

Mega-Mac will get technical features such as an active aerodynamics system, a rear airbrake, an on-board data system with video camera to record track times, and the new engine. Torque should be over 800 Nm and sprint times could be 2.8 seconds for the 100 kph (62 mph) mark, and took only 5.5 secs to reach 160 kph (99.42 mph). While to reach the speed of 320 kph (198,84 mph) in just 22 seconds.

A carbonfibre monocell and aluminium push-rod suspension similar to the MP4-12C components will appear, and the engine will come from collaboration with Ricardo, while a Graziano seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox will be used. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes are part of the package, too. A production run of 500 is apparently being planned, and the new name could include the number '799′.

But until now there has been no sign of the birth of this supercar. Would be very interesting if this supercar is present on the streets and become the Bugatti Veyron SS strongest rival. Stay Tuned, the battle is just heating up! *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOCAR | EUROCARBLOG]
