Fossils of ancient animals were found when paleontologists are conducting excavations in Boyaca, a region in Colombia during the period Cretaeous (144-60 million years ago) is flooded by water.

The dinosaur fossil that discovered a class of plesiosaur, a giant reptile that lived in the Southern Hemisphere oceans, when the Earth was much warmer than today. Maria Paramo, paleontologists who discovered the fossil, said, "These animals lived about 130 million years ago. Currently, nearly half of Colombia flooded with sea water which on the west and lasted until the end of the Cretaceous period."

As reported by the International Business Times, on Monday, December 9, 2013, Fossils from the plesiosaur were found to have a size of nearly 8 meter (26 ft). The same fossil ever found in Australia, North America, Antarctica, and Europe.
Plesiosaurs were predators that hunted fish. These animals can grow up to 15 meters long, has a wide body and a small tail. Its motion organ evolved so has four fins that was powered by strong muscles.
This dinosaur groups started to exist from 204 million years ago, but then became extinct along with other dinosaurs at 66 million years ago. Plesiosaur is the first type of dinosaur that discovered by scientists. Since the 19th century until now, scientists have collected more than 100 specimens of this group of dinosaurs. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | THE GUARDIAN | IB TIMES]
