The Iranian government on Monday, November 18, 2013, showing off their latest drone or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), as quoted by the Iranian official news agency, IRNA. The unmanned aircraft, named 'Fotros' can be armed with missiles and claimed to be able to fly as far as 2,000 kilometers non-stop.

"The Fotros drone has a operational cruising range up to 2,000 kilometers and can fly at an altitude of 25,000 feet (7,620 meters), for 16-30 hours," said Mohammad Dehgan, Iranian Defense Minister. Dehgan also added that the drones can carry out reconnaissance missions or attack by firing air-to-ground missiles.
The Shahed 129 drone is a combat UAV capable of carrying eight bombs or domestically-manufactured Sadid missiles at the same time, and is designed to hit stationary and mobile targets alike. (Picture from: http://www.irna.ir/en/) |
