SmartPipe Technology

A Norwegian researchers team with the help of some oil companies, successfully developed SmartPipe. Said to be 'smart', because the pipeline which developed since 2006 it has the ability to tell the direct in real time if something goes wrong. Such as sudden changes in temperature until a pipeline leak. In other words, the pipe is able to detect their own health. The goal is of course to minimize the damage and accidents are likely to be experienced the oil and gas field workers, or environmental damage due to a broken pipe.

The idea of SmartPipe is a very simple, i.e with using the belt containing a series of sensors, the pipeline flow are constantly watched the temperature, vibration, acceleration, strain, until the pipe's wall thickness.
