The World's Fastest Electric Car

Many people think that the electric car ability to accelerate is not as fast as the conventional cars. A French manufacturer, Venturi Automobiles conducted ongoing collaboration with Ohio State University after their Buckeye Bullet 2.5 EV set the current land speed record of 495 km/h (307 mph) in 2010, and now the team is setting its sights on a new mark with what known as the most powerful electric car ever made 'Venturi Buckeye Bullet-3 (VBB-3)'.

The VBB-3 unveiled this month by Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene at Wendover Airfield in Utah, United States. The third generation Venturi "Jamais Contente" (which translates as "The Never Satisfied") with a fantastic cost of U.S. $ 6 million to build.

The VBB-3 driver, Roger Schroer is one 
of the 60 members of the elite club of 
drivers who exceeded the boundaries of 
300 mph (482.8 km/h) with a vehicle.

The project aim is to achieve higher targets over the next two years, with the ultimate goal of exceeding 440 mph (708 km/h) or two times faster than the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4's speed.

The electric car that has 11.64 m body length which is made of carbon fiber, and weighs about 3.2 tons (7,055 lbs) in total, with batteries accounting for about half its weight. This car is driven by an electric motor which can generate power to 3,000 hp (2,200 kW) to drove all its wheels.

So who will be driving electric cars that have a fantastic power? The answer is Roger Schroer, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l' Automobile) world record holder, which was made in 2010 using the VBB-2.5 car, at the time, he was drove the electric car with speed reaching of 495 km/h.

If it manages to do that, it's like a needle EV will smash the official FIA world land speed record for a vehicle with an electric motor of 495 km/h (307 mph) set by its predecessor Venturi Buckeye Bullet 2.5. Unfortunately there is no record run could be attempted this month due to dismal weather that flooded the Salt Lake. The team hopes to cross the 600 km/h (372 mph) threshold this year, but that's been rescheduled to July 2014.

As has been previously reported by Autoblog, on Thursday, May 2, 2013, that the VBB-3 is planned to break the fastest electric vehicle land speed record in the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA, which will be recorded by FIA, on September 12 and 18, 2013.
