Jaguar has plans to produce SUVs, it is seen by the viewing of the C-X17 concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, some time ago. Maybe someone will thinks, that the British automaker whose its shares are majority owned by Tata Motors makes the SUV was a counter-productive move.
Because Land Rover (other automakers in the same ownership with Jaguar) is a SUV specialist. However Jaguar believed, the off-road enthusiasts will not turn away from Land Rover. And C-X17 will be bought by those who need crossover, to conquer the steep road as well as having better visibility with comfortable interior space.

This is Jaguar strategy to be able to roar in between a row of German vehicles. "We do not intend to challenge them directly. We want to change the vocabulary of 'the German three' into 'the European four'," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand Director as quoted from Autocar site.
He also revealed the tactics that will be implemented by Jaguar with the launch four new models until 2018. Among the models that we will see over the next five years is a sedan, compact saloon, coupe, and SUV.
