Dark Side of Japan

After some time ago Yamaha Europe released a teaser video of a new fighter street bike which entitled, "Dark Side of Japan". It could be freely translated that the motorcycle will be able to changing face of the world's sport motorcycle. And in June 2013, the reformer figure was launched under the name Yamaha MT-09, which is crowned as the naked 3-cylinder engine street fighter.

With the presence of this motorcycle, Yamaha has changed the world's sport bike habits through the configuration of 3-cylinder engined motorcycle. Because of all this, the manufacturer would dare use a 3-cylinder engine only the European motorcycle manufacturer such as MV Agusta or Triumph. But now the Yamaha MT-09 is really acting as the "dark side" of Japanese manufacturers!

Motorcycle that carrying a 3-cylinder engine with a displacement of 847 cc was first introduced at Intermot 2012, Milan-Italy. And Yamaha claims that the engine can generate power of 113.4 PS @10,000 rpm and 87.4 Nm of torque @8,500 rpm.

For comparison, the Yamaha FZ8 that using four-cylinder inline engine with almost the same displacement (779 cc) is only capable of spraying power of 104.7 PS @10,000 rpm and torque of 82 Nm @8,000 rpm. With the difference of engine displacement of about 50 cc but it has a lighter weight, and will make the MT-09 became the new king of Yamaha sport bike in Europe.

The motorcycle could have a lighter weight because its backbone was made from all-new CF aluminum die-cast frame which is lightweight and stiff offering a great overall balance at high speeds. And besides that, this motorcycle also put up a 3 in 1 boxy design exhaust system with silencer, which could produces a smooth sound.

For the stability and ride comfort, on the front using telescopic fork with slightly widened handlebar. While on the back using a monoshock with asymmetric swing arm. And its brake system, uses dual 298 mm discs at the front and a single 245 mm at the rear. Optionally it offered, ABS which makes its weight increase of 3 kg. In the UK, this motorcycle got price tag of £6,799 (U.S. $10,960 or approx Rp. 124.25 million).
