In the hand-built supercar era of rampant, and many custom sports car are mostly based on the Ferrari or Corvette or many other famous brands. 10. Callaway C16
The Callaway C16 is Callaway’s 16th major automotive project. Based on the current Chevrolet Corvette platform, the C16 takes performance and style to the next level, with 616 bhp at 6,200 rpm and develops 582 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The new sports car incorporates Callaway's race-proven technologies, superlative craftsmanship and arresting style.
The C16 was drawn and modeled by designer Paul Deutschman, who has a twenty-year portfolio of Callaway designs. The car's handcrafted bodywork replaces every panel of the standard body to achieve its integrated look. The C16 also attains a new level of manufacturing efficiency. The Callaway supercharged 6.0-liter LS2 V8 produces an impressive power that make the car does 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3.3-seconds, and a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds. Top speed of the manual transmission coupe is 331.52 kph (206 mph).
9. Castagna Aznom
Italian coachbuilder Castagna Milano, originally founded way back in the 1850s and revived in the 1990s. The carrozzeria's latest offering, the Castagna Aznom. Based on the Corvette Z06, the Aznom also draws on retro Corvette styling elements, blended with thoroughly modern design features to create a heart-stopping supercar. The egg-crate grille is drawn from the original '53 Vette, slab-sided flanks from the '58 Stingray and fenders from the '56 SR-2 Sebring race car.
On the contemporary side of things, LED rear lights, retracting rear wing, three-section rear diffuser and F1-style fender-mounted carbon-fiber wing mirrors round out the design. The cockpit even features a Google Earth-powered sat-nav system. Castagna has thoroughly massaged the Z06's 7-liter V8 from 500 hp to a whopping 750, and with the use of carbon fiber, aluminum and magnesium bodywork, has trimmed the weight down to 1,400 kg. With that magical formula of more power and less weight, the carrozzeria puts the performance figures at 0-100 kph (62 mph) in a scant 3.4 seconds on its way to a claimed top speed of 349.23 kph (217 mph).
8. DC Design Rolls-Royce Coupe
DC Design is an Indian design firm from Mumbai which is noted for their concept cars and prototypes. The company also builds custom special order vehicles, such as a modified Porsche Cayenne coupe, and a modified Rolls Royce coupe. Official details are scarce, but they believe the car is based on the original RR Silver Spirit saloon and created for an owner whose design brief was to build a Rolls Royce that would shock anyone who looked at it.
The exterior has obviously been heavily modified with an eye to Nissan's 350z, but it also looks like the interior has undergone cosmetic surgery. The Coupe sports car based on second-hand Silver Spur, the design center was finalized with a year, 6 months to produce. Interestingly, in addition to other exterior and interior are all traditional Roller design, but the color changed into red.
7. Spada Codatronca TS and Monza
It’s been a few years since Spada released their Codatronca TS, but the now famous Italian car designer is back with an open top version of their supercar. The Spada Codatronca Monza will more than likely feature the same V8 engine found in its older brother, the Codatronca TS. The TS was going to be offered in three different variants; a TS "Sport Tourism" with 512 hp engine, a TSV "Fast Sport Tourism" with 513 hp, and a TSS "Sport Super Tourism" with 700 hp. The TSS "Sport Super Tourism" was even capable of a 339.57 kph (211 mph) top speed, unfortunately, it never saw the light of production day.
The only variant that successfully stomped across the production line was the tamer of the three - the TS - which brought in $425,000 per unit. It is rumored that the Monza version will feature a larger power output than that of the TS, with a probable 630 hp at 6,500 rpm and 492 lbs-ft at 4,800 rpm.
And the Codatronca Monza, one that features a supercharged 7.0-liter V8 engine with 710 horsepower and 701 lb/ft of torque mated to a six-speed manual transmission, allowing the car to hit 0-100 kph (62 mph) in three seonds with a top speed of 334.74 kph (208 mph).
6. Vandenbrink GTO
The Vandenbrink GTO is a limited re-bodied version of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. This means an entirely new coachwork, designed by Michiel van den Brink of Vandenbrink Design, is fitted on the stripped chassis and drivetrain of a Ferrari 599 GTB production car. The car's styling is inspired by the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO as a tribute.
