This new transmission called 9G-Tronic had already been used on some models of Mercedes-Benz. But its presence still denied by the manufacturer until this week, when the Mercedes-Benz German-language website broadcast live a few changes to the E-Class lineup, which includes the signal that the 9G-Tronic has become standard equipment for E350 BlueTec transmission replaces the old 7G-Tronic.

It could be argued that the reference of 9G-Tronic is Euro 6 regulations that make Mercedes-Benz using nine automatic transmission in the cars that move through the rear wheels. Besides, the Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTec is claimed to be one of the most economical V6 diesel cars in its class. Because it uses a 9-speed automatic transmission (9G-TRONIC) with torque converter. Construction of transmission is claimed to smaller and lighter than previous models. Transmission houses made of lightweight magnesium alloy, while the torque converter of lightweight aluminum anyway.

The new technologies 9G-Tronic transmission application does not have a significant impact on car acceleration 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) which stood at 6.6 seconds. But with the two additional ratios and function development exceeds the 7G-Tronic transmission, clearly it could help to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the new transmission can cut fuel consumption and also reduce the CO2 emissions. If Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTec Saloon filled with 1 liter diesel, it can cover a distance of 18.87 km (11.73 miles) and 18.18 km (11.3 miles) on Estate type.
