10 Concept Cars from the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show (Part-2)

The high of China's auto market urged the World's automotive companies more incentive to introduce their newest products in the Big-Panda country. Coincided with the 2013 Shanghai Autoshow event which held from April 20 until 29, 2013, many of them launched the best and the latest cars to attract attention of the Chinese market participants.

From over 1,300 vehicles that available and displayed at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, we try to summarize the top-5 of 10 best concept cars. This time we will discuss the top-5 best concept cars that consisting of three cars from Europe that represented by Renault, Mercedes-Benz, and Maserati then one of those comming from the Buick and the Hongqi, one of the locals brands.

5. Hongqi L9
In Chinese "Hongqi" (pronounced more like "hon-she") which means "Red Flag" is one of Chinese car brand that manufactured by FAW automobile company since 1950. In those early days Hongqi designers took inspiration from what looks to be the 50s Chevrolets; these days they've kept a little of the Chevrolet but look more the way of England. And the Hongqi cars themselves are typically produced for the China's bigwigs.

This time, the car manufacturer is launching Hongqi L9, the version of car that made for the civilian. Hongqi L9 carrying a retro style but still luxurious, with the bulletproof body.

For the powertrain, this car has a 6.0-liter V12 engine that can generate 400 hp of power with torque of 405 lb-ft. Not yet known what price of the car, and it's not even clear if people can buy it or if it's merely meant to be for VIPs.

4. Renault Alpine A110-50 Concept
Although many new cars come at Shanghai Auto Show 2013, but the concept car of the Renault Alpine A110-50 is still steal the show at the event. The reason, some time ago the concept car had also exhibited at auto shows like this.

This French concept car weighs 880 kilograms and is equipped with tires measuring 21-inch brake discs measuring 356 mm front and 330 mm rear brakes.

This car is equipped with a 3,500 cc of mid-mounted V6 engine would certainly offer performance to live up to the Alpine legend, should Renault move forward with a similarly powered road-going version. This engine can generate power of 400 hp at 7,200 rpm with a torque of 422 Nm.

3. All-New Maserati Ghibli
The Italian four-door sports car is tipped to threaten sales of German cars such as the Audi A6, BMW 5 series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. And claimed to be more sporty than the previous generations, the Quattroporte.

As the Maserati primary plan, the Maserati Ghibli came to attract the attention of Chinese society, the All-New Maserati Ghibli offers a choice of Rear-Whell-Drive (RWD) and "Q4" All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system. There will be also have choice of three engines, first, the car carrying the 3,000 cc V6 engine capable of producing power 330 ps. Secondly, the car is equipped with twin-turbo engine that capable producing 410 ps of  power. And third, 3,000 cc V6 diesel engine that can generate power of 275 ps.

Believed, the All-New Maserati Ghibli will be important for Maserati to achieve the sales target of 50 thousand units per year.

2. Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept
The German luxury car brings a stylish compact luxury crossover, has the same wheelbase as the three models of front-wheel-drive Mercedes-benz car latest, second-generation B-class, third-generation A-class sedan and CLA.

For the front grille has a large size flanked by lamps with unique design as well as a pair of air holes on the edge of the bumper plus some sort of skid plate that adorned down to the bottom where the license plate and fog lights installed there.

GLA concept has 172.4 inches (4,38 m) length size, 77.6 inches (1,97 m) wide and 61.8 inches (1,57 m) tall. While its wheelbase distance is 2.69 meters. Under the hood of this concept car carrying the inline-four engine turbo 2.0-liter that can generate power 208 hp with 258 lb-ft of torque mated to a dual-clutch gearbox and multi-plate clutch AWD system.

1. Buick Riviera Concept
Coinciding with the presentation of at Shanghai Auto Show 2013, the new Riviera is a made-in-China design, courtesy of the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, a joint venture between GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC).

GM claims that inspiration comes from the original Y-Job concept of 1938 and the LeSabre, Electra 225, and Riviera coupes of the 1960s and '70s, although you really have to squint to see any of them in the new Riviera's curvy bold. Buick says, the concept car's exterior also inspired by Chinese proverb "The greatest good is like water", that's emitted from the front grille which is resembles a waterfall.

At 185.4 inches (4.71 m) long, 112.9-inch (2.87 m) of wheelbase and riding on 21-inch, 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels, the gull-wing car is the most striking thing to wear Buick's three shields since the sexy 2004 Velite concept convertible, which influenced the Riviera concept. And although we're sure the doors won't make it past the show circuit, General Motors says the concept represents Buick's global design direction for its next generation of mid-size luxury cars.

Inside are a three-dimensional speedometer and a center console that looks like a computer mouse, with a touchpad and an LCD. The gear lever has been replaced with electronic shifter pads.

The Buick Riviera Concept car is also packed with such sophistication wireless technology of dual-mode plug-in hybrid electric propulsion system called W-PHEV, which allows the car can be charged wirelessly through "sensory panel recharge" that placed under the car.
