Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles with a bulletproof variants, Guard. The bulletproof cars with is available in the ML 350 BlueTEC Guard and ML 500 Guard type.
Despite having the same shape with another ML 350 variants, but the car's bodyshell has specific adaptations such as protectors, the doors were modified, and the strengthening of the front structure. To seal the SUV against any villainous attempt upon its passengers,
Mercedes has fortified the ML with polycarbonate-armored windows,
tight-fitting special steel, increased structural firmness for the
passenger compartment and run-flat tires.All glass is made of high quality materials specially laminated with uniform thickness.

All components are mounted adjusted ballistic requirements. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring.

Since the car is now a lot heavier, weighing about 5,600 pounds (2.8 tons), the Adaptive Damper System and the axle components have been redesigned. Despite its weight, the ML500 is able to reach 62 mph (100 kph) from a standing start in just 6.5 seconds thanks to a gasoline 408 hp engine. The less powerful ML350 BlueTEC, using a 258 hp diesel, needs 9.4 second to get to 62 mph.
