Electrical and Diesel Hybrid Engine Technology Developed

The urgency of the need for environment-friendly vehicles and fuels, has prompted a number of the world's car manufacturers to think of new innovations in the field of engine technology. Once the technology of hybrid gasoline and electric engine whose popularity has continued to rise since first introduced to the automotive market in 1999, now turn ogled diesel engines.

Understandably, diesel fuel prices were also influenced by the presence of oil reserves so the combination of diesel with an electric motor could be an appropriate solution for diesel fuel consumption efficiency. Slowly but surely, the famous automakers like Toyota, Volvo, and Audi dispensing machine design an environmentally friendly and economical fuel consumption. Moreover, if the diesel engine is essentially more efficient than gasoline engines, is now added another electric motor to reduce the use of diesel. You can imagine how thrifty diesel fuel consumption if the hybrid technology is applied to the motor vehicle.

With EURO emission regulations are increasingly stringent, some manufacturers world compete to be the best. In fact, Audi has developed the diesel hybrid engine's car technology adapted from Audi's Lemans racing car, the R18.

Where the electric motor will be the main engine for mobility on the highway, while the diesel engine as supporter when the speed reaches of a particular number. In this way, starting torque combustion engine that requires large amounts of fuel to drive the car's wheels never happen again.

Different from currently diesel engines with a large cylinder volume capacity, will simply use a small diesel engine (2 piston) with no more than 1,000 cc of engine volume.

This technology was implemented by Audi in collaboration with Volkswagen to make diesel hybrid concept that uses two pistons and capable of producing the fuel consumption of about 50 km per 1 liter of diesel fuel. Note that fuel consumption is pretty fantastic because no less efficient than a motorcycle that has a small engine capacity.

Volvo V60 that made where the diesel engine is used to drive the front wheels, while the 70 HP electric motor power as rear-wheel drive. Based on testing, speed acceleration 0-100 km/h can be reached in 6.9 seconds.

No less than the speed of acceleration of the gasoline-engined sports car equipped devices turbochager. Therefore, the Volvo V60 equipped with power and speed settings in order to remain efficient econo drive diesel.

"We are first in the industry to integrate a plug-in hybrid in an established production flow together with other car models," says Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research and Development at Volvo Car Corporation. "The integration in the standard production flow gives the plug-in hybrid buyer the possibility to choose in principle all options available for the standard V60."

The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid is powered by a 2.4-liter, five-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 215 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor makes 70 hp and receives its power from a 11.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and helps deliver a range of up to 32 miles on electric power alone.

In Indonesia, the automotive manufacturers are also busy preparing for the presence of environmentally friendly cars and fuel-efficient. After introducing in 2012 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), that held on September, Toyota is currently testing is compact hybrid car, the Prius C or Aqua at the the Indonesian's Assessment and Application of Technology Board (Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi/BPPT). The goal is to find, acquire incentive or not, in accordance with the regulations of Low Carbon Emmision Car (LCE) which will be published soon.

Besides Toyota, almost all brands reportedly tested their products for fuel efficient and environmentally friendly. The majority of manufacturers are promoting environmentally friendly technology, using a machine that has a smaller capacity, but produces great power. In addition to fuel consumption standards, to obtain the incentive, each brand shall assemble vehicles in Indonesia. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | OVI | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 28122012]
