Eco-Friendly Automotive Paints

Honda Motor Co.Ltd. announced the development of a new painting system that was more efficient and environmentally friendly, named Honda Smart Ecological Paint (Honda SE Paint).

The system can speed up the painting process by eliminating middle coat process without compromising the final painting quality.

The conventional paint systems used today consists of four coating process (4 coat / 3 bake) consisting of electro deposit coat, middle coat, water-based coat, and clear coat, and require three times the drying system (bake). In conventional systems, eliminating the middle coat resulting in limited colors that can be used for painting.

To overcome this, Honda developed a high efficient materials as basic dyes used in the final coating. These materials also can produce any color their want to use in the process of painting the car's exterior, while reducing the process of painting into three layers and two drying.

Besides Honda Ecological Paint Smart, at the same time Honda also developed a new robotic painting system named Wall-Mounted Paint Robot System. The system is supported by the technology built-in quick load / quick wash paint tank that aims to improve the efficiency and reduce the amount of material painting paint by 40 percent compared with conventional painting process. As a result, the amount of CO2 generated during the painting process would be reduced by 40 percent.

Honda Motor Co.Ltd., will begin to introduce this new technology in Yorii Plant at Saitama Factory in Japan, which is scheduled to begin operating in July 2013. Yorii Plant will begin production as the Honda's energy efficient and environmentally friendly factories. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PHYSORG | DIH | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 21122012]
