What Animals Do When Bored?

Orang utan bored.
Not only humans, animals also have feelings of boredom and confusion. The team of researchers from the University of Guelph, Canada, found signs of boredom and anxiety in animals.

The object of their study were 29 captive mink tails. One group of animals was placed in a cage for 7 months before the experiment began. While other groups living in the same enclosure. The difference is, this second group could access the tunnel that leads them to a larger room.

In a large room that contained a variety of games that give them the opportunity to climb, dipping his head into the water, and other activities. In fact, each month these animals got a new game.

When starting the experiment, the researchers regaled animals with a series of new experiences, like puffs of air, giving the fragrance candles, and toys toothbrush moves. They provide this stimulus by ignoring that these objects are beneficial, stressful, or neutral on animals.

Research reported by the journal PLoS ONE show that animals are reared in cages more attracted to new things. They also tertihat snack foods available.

These animals also spend a lot of time awake in the new environment that much stimulus. The researchers concluded that all behavior is the effect of the potential signs of boredom.

The researchers say that this study is the first step. They hope to take action to make the animals more satisfied. They admit can not determine with certainty whether the subjective experience of human-like animals related to the reaction bored. "But their behavior is consistent with the circumstances," the researchers wrote. *** [DISCOVERY NEWS | UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH | PLOS ONE | KORAN TEMPO 4062]
