5 Cars with Eccentric Design

Mass-produced cars by manufacturers may seem very ordinary in the eyes of automotive lovers who have different imagination so feel the need to show the car or vehicle considered unique and special. There are tasteful eccentric modificators that work individually or in collaboration with leading automotive manufacturers.

Through data from Google search engine, we get some cars that are considered unique ever then compiled in this article. So for this special needs sometimes a car is not only a mere means of transportation, but also as an unusual vehicles, both function and technology.

The cars tend to be eccentric and unique design, in addition to them there are economical and eco-friendly concept, there are also used for utilities such extremes to certain special conditions or only for the sensation to the attention of the audience automotive world. Five of them are as listed below,

1. Colim: Compatible Caravan
The Colim is designed by Christian Susana is the result of cross breeding between car with camper needs caravan. The front unit can be removed-off, if it is not used for camping,  that can be used as a passenger car with two seats. Perhaps with the appearance of strange looks, but flexibility was amazing.

It’s a detachable motor home that can sleep a family of four. The cockpit, which also seats four, can be fully detached from the caravan and driven around town.

The back can be configured to have a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and seating area, and can be re-configured on the fly through foldable and pull-out shelves and units to fit your daily needs.


2. Eclectic: Energy-autonomous Vehicles
This car is equipped with solar panels and windmills as a power source. In addition, there is also a plug to charge again of electrical power because solar panels and windmills are implemented only able to take this car as far as 14 miles and the power from this electric-plug was used to continue the journey.

By using a Hawker 48v battery, the Venturi Eclectic is a 3-seat electro-solar vehicle powered by an air cooled asynchronous 11kWc motor. It will drive for 5 hours with its onboard charger or 3 when plugged into an outlet.

Stylistically, the Eclectic looks like some mash up between a covered wagon, a golf cart and something out of Popular Science, circa 1990. The bicycle wheels, cloth covered wooden seats, fabric doors (removeable), wifi kit and locking trunk all round out the funky ride. It cost about U.S. $31,500 (or approx Rp. 302 million) according to a press release by Venturi.

3. Pussycar Automodule: Vision of Future
One of the classic eccentrics car design is Pussycar Automodule. This unique retro creation designed to be the vision of the future is definitely one unique creation.

Designers are always said to have an eccentric side to them. One such designer known to display his eccentric side through his creations is Jean Pierre Ponthieu. Working in the field of advertising, this eccentric French genius created the unique Pussycar Automodule as a sort of promotional vehicle.

Its unique design and features must have definitely made this vehicle the cynosure of all eyes in the 1970’s. Pussycar described the spherical Automodule as “The Car of the Year 2000″ and its purpose: "In this world where everything is banal and ugly, we must know how to create the beautiful and unusual."

The unique car whose rear wheel is powered by a 250cc single cylinder engine can do wheelies! Definitely no speedster, this vehicle inches forward slowly and can also turns its wheels to drive sideways or rotate in place.

4. Peugeot Capsule: Mini Off-road Car
From industrial designers Alp Germaner from Johannesburg (South Africa), the Peugeot Capsule is a design study of a compact single-seater off-roader inspired by motorcycles and targeted to adventure lovers.

Peugeot Capsule inspired by KLR 650 motorcycle is moved using the electric engine power. This Capsule is a compact off-roader that can transport a single person and offers enough luggage capacity for overnight trips.

The single horizontal screen wiper is mounted on side rails which run along the A pillars, and also act as water channels. The powertrain adopts all-wheel drive system and electric motors.

A roof-mounted solar panel contributes to recharging the batteries; the luggage is removable, so that "it can be taken next to your tent and used as a stool/desk." This system includes GPS navigation, and connection with other Capsules. Side mirrors are replaced by external cameras which are connected to LCD displays inside the cabin.

5. BRB Evolution: Folding Car Concept
This car concept is called BRB Evolution, because it has the ability of this car to fold up to 50% from its original size. Daniel Bailey, the designer, figured the two of the main problems of the future in big cities would be the pollution and over population, he wanted to design a car which powered by electricity and a hydrogen fuel cell to deal with the pollution issue, while the fold-able concept is to help with the limited available parking space.

This potentially doubles the amount of parking spaces! two rollers would come from the bottom, roll the car up, turn and slide the car into the space sideways, the driver would have to exit prior to the folding.
