Through Velocity gives us a little gap to peek into the mindset of Hyundai. The mindset based how serious they are to work on Velocity ideas that have been long buried. And Velocity will be on display at the SEMA Show, held in Las Vegas from October 30 to November 2, 2012.

"In creating Velocity, we are inspired to take the original concept Veloster's power until expressions are met," said Chris Chapman, head of the Hyundai Design Center Irvine, California. "Velocity provides flexibility in our design and engineering team to make this Veloster far beyond everyday production car limitations."
Velocity is a joint-project between Hyundai’s Southern Californian Design and Engineering teams, and is intended to up the ante on the standard Veloster Turbo’s performance and visual presence. Velocity will be pushed far beyond production specifications with real asphalt-skimming body kit. The kit includes front and rear brake cooling duct, front splitter, rear diffuser, large rear wing, aero side skirt lips and race car graphics. A set of 19-inch HRE lightweight racing rims makes this car pretty and steady with the body-low. Body kits are designed to improve the aerodynamic performance of this car while maintaining the Veloster's overall look.
This Velocity packs plenty of bite with its bark. Cosworth's powertrain adds a new turbocharger, performance pistons, rods, intercooler, intake-manifold, and the fuel management. Velocity also uses a custom exhaust system by CPR Fabrication for better breathing and more sound. The Veloster's 40-mpg (5.8 l/100 km) the claim is definitely out the window on the Velocity, but output of 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder upgrade is raised to more than 400 hp. The maximum torque now peaks at 475 Nm.
The Brembo on the other hand, slows things down with four-piston brakes and two-piece rotors, plus Bilstein shocks with monotube dampers and then using the Ecsta SPT high-performance summer tires by Kumho ensure that the extra power really honed. Inside, the Velocity houses Sparco racing seats with a touch of Katzkin custom suede interior with roll bar and race-keeper video GPS data acquisition system keeps the driver engaged with the road or track ahead.
Most of these SEMA concepts are just fun exercises, and almost none will go into production.
