Performance electric motorcycles today was already approaching a motorcycle with gasoline fuel. The electric motorcycle maker, Brammo launch two variants of electric motorcycle the Empulse and Empulse R. This electric motorcycle claimed has a top speed of 161 km/h and can travel a distance of 170 km for one-time charge.

These electric bikes also feature all-new Integrated Electric Transmission (IET) with six levels of speed and equipped with a water cooling system. The IET is a mechatronic propulsion unit that was specifically designed to work with the Empulse’s electric motor, clutch, and gear shift.
Brammo’s reasoning for the gear shifting was to bring the electric-powered bike closer to the feeling of a traditional internal combustion engine. Brammo claims it even has the characteristics of engine braking when down-shifting. Incredibly the engine can produce 54 horsepower and 46.5 lb/ft of torque.
The power is provided by Brammo’s own Brammo Power Lithium-Ion Battery with a life of 1,500 cycles to 80% capacity and two different levels of charging. Level 1 fully recharges the battery at a maximum of eight hours while Level 2 maximum charging time is less than half that at 3.5 hours. Every ten minutes of charge adds up to 7 km of riding range.
The key to the Brammo Empulse's higher performance claims comes from the improved energy densities in its battery systems, which range from 6 to 10 kWh. (Picture from: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/) |
Brammo cover the entire body of Empulse with plastic, and carbon fiber are used to wrap the headlights and rear fender so that the overall weight to 200 kg. Making these Brammo's two machines feature the styling aspects of a modern day sport bike minus the exhaust.
Brammo motorcycle manufacturer will sell Empulse variance at a price $ 16,995 and $ 18,995 for Empulse R. Back to that price tag. It's steep, no doubt about it, but we think with good reason. Besides the big 10.2 kWh battery pack and breakthrough six-speed gearbox, your hard-earned cash is buying you top-notch components in places that count. That means Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels wrapped in Avon 3D Ultra Sport rubber, Marzocchi forks up front and a Sachs shock out back. Not at all shabby, and since quality in these parts can save your life, you can consider them a worthy investment. *** [MOTORCYCLE-USA.COM | OVI | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 18052012]
