Asteroid Crossing Near the Earth

(Picture from; http://www.Space.com)
In the description that feels realistic, two Hollywood film production, "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" makes the audience gripped by the depiction of "doomsday" that hit the Earth. With realistic visualization, aka inferno of destruction that is very scary that portrayed by meteor showers and asteroids colliding with the "blue planet", which until now considered the only inhabited planet.

Without meaning excessive, so the real scenario is often "threatened" Earth that we inhabit. Astronomers have discovered many asteroids that pass in close proximity to humans inhabited this planet. They also record the asteroid-asteroid and provide the name and the prediction when the asteroid passed within a range observed from Earth. However, we still can breathe easier because the worst case scenario in two Hollywood films were not going to happen in the next few centuries.

The U.S. space agency has identified a 90 percent risk of a giant asteroid hit the Earth. Including one that is expected to lead to disasters like the asteroid that caused extinction dinosauras. However, according to NASA, none of these asteroids threatening Earth in the next few centuries.

"We now know where they are and where they go. Study and such knowledge is essential in order to really reduce the risk of hit Earth (celestial bodies)," said Amy Mainser of NASA's Jet Thrusters Power Laboratory. Of note was revealed one of the giant asteroid that has a diameter of 1,000 meters. The number of giant asteroids found there are 911 pieces of fruit that there are an estimated 981.

Well, according to site-sky.org earth, one asteroid will pass close to Earth on Tuesday at 23:28 GMT or Wednesday (9 / 11) at 16:20 pm. Asteroid, named 2005 YU55 will pass at a distance of 325,000 kilometers from Earth. The distance was within the orbit of the Moon. 2005 YU55 became the first large asteroids that pass near Earth in the next 35 years. 2005 YU55 is actually a potentially hazardous asteroids. Asteroid with a diameter of 400 meters was discovered on December 28, 2005 by Robert S. McMillan of the Steward Observatory, Kitt Peak. "2005 YU55 will pass closer than the distance between the Earth to the Moon, but the track was not in the direction of the asteroid hitting the Earth," the article in earthsky.org.

Meanwhile, according to an article in the Near Earth Object Program (NEOP) NASA, "Although classified as potentially dangerous objects, 2005 YU55 is not in a position to threaten the Earth, at least in the next 100 years into the future. However, with relative proximity to Earth, we can conduct in-depth study and observation without having to send rockets into space investigators. This kind of situation will not happen again until later when Asteroid 2028 (153 814) 2001 WN5, passing within a distance of 0.6 position of the Moon "
Asteroid 2005 YU55 will fly past Earth and at its closest approach point will be about 325,000 kms away. (Picture from: http://yu55.net/)
Potential asteroid impact this would probably happen with the Moon, although the odds are also very small. According to the Director NEOP Don Yeomans, if the asteroid hit the Moon, the impact will be quite significant. "Indeed, the asteroid will not shake the moon at all, but will create an impact crater at least as wide as 4 kilometers. This is significant, but smaller than other moon craters," Yeomans said as quoted by Space.com.
Earth's close encounter with Asteroid 2005 YU55 will occur at 6:28 p.m. EST on Tuesday, as the space rock sails about 201,000 miles from the planet. The asteroid is about 1,312 feet or 400 meters or Quarter of a Mile wide. (Picture from: http://www.politics.ie/)
For comparison, the largest crater the Moon today - South-Pole-Aitken Basin - diameters of 2.500 kilometers or hundreds of times larger than that may occur due 2005 YU55. "Asteroid 2005 YU55 crossed the Earth once every 100,000 years. Because the Moon is smaller, the event may only occur once in several hundred thousand years.

To be sure, though there are many more, even with a size greater than that recorded, their arrival will be slower than the discovery of weapons of asteroids are now also being developed, although with a very minimal funding.

Moreover, a group of scientists the world, many of whom work only backed the spirit and ideals rather than real help governments, working hard to stifle a powerful method of asteroids, before the distance is closer to Earth.

Astronomers confirmed astronomical phenomena is normal and inevitable. The threat was terrible, but a symptom of a natural universe. What is even more appalling, not because of the destruction of Earth asteroids, but the act of residents which took place slowly but surely. Earth's population increasingly swollen, depleted food, pollution is everywhere. The technology is already advanced, but its use is not geared for the sake of human welfare, but to fight other humans. *** [ERWIN KUSTIMAN | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 08112011]
