A study conducted recently revealed that the birds were making a nest with a way of learning than the ability to use instinct. Researchers from the University of Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews studied the life of the birds in Africa by watching movies that made the scientists in Botswana.
Birds are the object of research is a bird with striking plumage. Therefore, one can create different kinds of birds that nest in one season is quite complicated.
Patrick Walsh of the University of Edinburgh said the study revealed "repetitive activities make the birds more and more proficient." This research has been published in the journal Behavioural Processes.
A bird has a different technique when making a nest from one to another. Also there are different patterns, such as making a nest from the left side first, then to the right side and vice versa.
The more often the bird is arranging twigs, the more proficient they put it. Even the little twigs are wasted.
"If a bird building a nest on the basis of genetics, certainly every time they make a nest shape will be the same. But in fact it did not happen," said Walsh.
He added, the bird that became the object of his research shows a different approach when making a nest. "Even for a bird, practice making them more adept." *** [BBC | FOXNEWS | KORAN TEMPO 3659]
