Getting to know the engine configuration

Engines used in modern cars consists of a variety of configurations. Many reasons manufacturers use a machine configuration, can be selected for adjusting the engine compartment, ease of care to chase performance.

Here are some of the engine configuration which is used by the automotive manufacturers for their vehicle productions;

1. Inline-Engine
The engine configuration most commonly used by car manufacturer is still inline shaped engine. This configuration is positioned to the cylinder in an upright parallel position.

The longest form of inline engines among other things, but by the manufacturer began to anticipate with transverse engine position from left to right in order to save the engine compartment. Inline configuration is also the easiest and cheapest in terms of treatment. Moreover, the character of this machine has been understood by many general mechanics.

2. V-Engine
The next inline engine configuration development is a V-engine. This machine is more compact in size and weight is also lighter than inline.

Excess of V configuration contained in the character of power that can be achieved at low speed. In addition, more subtle engine sound due to vibration up and down the piston can be muted in this configuration.

Typically, this V-engine configuration available in the car with high performance for highly responsive yet efficient. The disadvantage is the engine maintenance that requires the handling of mechanical expert.

3. W-Engine
The car manufacturers continue to innovate on the number of cylinders more and more to anticipate the space and the character of the engine. Therefore, created the W-engine configuration, where there is a row of cylinders is flanked left and right lines.

With the large number of cylinders but still compact in size, the W-engines can support the center of gravity of the car. The disadvantage, the machinery construction more complicated than V and wasteful lubricant.

4. Boxer Engine
The last engine configuration namely boxer engine alias horizontal. Subaru and Porsche is the car manufacturers who often use these engine configurations.

The boxer engine design widens and forms an angle of 180 degrees, with the crankshaft in the middle. This makes the most excellent boxer engine about gravity. This machine concept itself was discovered by the German engineer Karl Benz in 1896. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ]
