Street-legal Electric Superbike

The electric motor technology is not only used in the high speed car. As recently carried by Mission Motors which is unveiled their latest electric motors, Mission R. "Mission R is the most advanced electric motorcycle is in the world," said the company's as reported by Visordown on Monday (20/12/2010). What is claimed the company may not be a figment.

With 14 kwh of energy storage and a 120 kw AC induction motor, which is capable of spraying power up to 160 bhp with peak torque to 120lb/ft. Mission’s engineers have packaged nearly 90% of a Chevy Volt’s power and more energy into a compact sportbike. This powertrain propels the Mission R to 60 mph in 3 seconds. From the test results the zero emissions motorcycle can be run with a top speed of 257.5 kph (160 mph). A record pace for this can be obtained from the superbike-engined 1,000 cc and above.

In addition to exceptional speed, this motor has a control system called Vehicle Management System which can be accessed through a WiFi or 3G connection. This control system can adjust the mechanism of regenerative braking, throttle maps, and much more related to the mechanism of the motor itself. Using liquid cooling system with 3 phase AC induction, the electric motor only has a single gear. An integrating navigation turn-by-turn, HD video camera with telemetry overlay and wireless integration HUD as well as.
The custom chassis, created by James Parker, ensures braking, cornering and ergonomics competitive with the leading ICE sportbikes. And the industrial design, penned by Tim Prentice of Motonium, has received awards from Core77 and RedDot. The motor body using aluminum legs supported by Öhlins FGR-000 TTX25 Gas Charged Adjustable preload on the front and Öhlins TTX36 Shock and progressive linkage system on the rear.
